President Donald Trump has not directed his administration to release documents regarding former President Joe Biden’s health. There are claims that such documents are “concealed,” as White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt noted during a briefing on Thursday.
During this briefing, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Leavitt, “The president can declassify what he wants. Did he see if there was a record that contradicts what we were told about Joe Biden’s decline?” Leavitt responded, “As far as I know, he hasn’t told anyone to look into it. But certainly, I can ask him if he intended to.”
Biden’s health has come back into focus following the release of an audio interview with special advisor Robert Huar, which revealed the former president having difficulty articulating his thoughts, taking long pauses, and struggling to recall significant events, including the year his son Beau passed away from cancer.
Huar had also investigated Biden’s management of classified documents after he left the vice presidency under Obama. In February 2024, Huar announced he would not recommend criminal charges against Biden, describing him as “a sympathetic, well-meaning older person.”
Recently, Biden’s office disclosed that he is battling “aggressive” prostate cancer that has spread. After the election cycle, several publications surfaced, documenting the events of the 2024 election and Biden’s declining health. They suggested that Biden’s staff was aware of his health issues yet publicly insisted he was fit to serve.
Leavitt remarked, “I think the president spoke extensively about this.” She added that this situation—the previous administration allegedly covering up Biden’s health declines—was among the worst political scandals she’d witnessed, although she noted the American public was already aware of some truths.
Doocy also questioned Levitt about the Biden administration’s use of autopens, alleging that Biden’s staff may have used these devices to sign official documents. Levitt clarified, saying, “Here in this White House, the president signs documents that have legal meaning,” asserting that he signs all necessary documents himself, which, she pointed out, was not typical in prior administrations.
Autopens create signatures automatically, rather than by hand. The Conservative Heritage Foundation Surveillance Project had previously examined the administration’s use of these devices, noting inconsistencies in Biden’s supposedly computer-generated signatures on various official documents, including his announcement related to the 2024 race.
