JD Vance States That the Trump Administration Supports All Naval Academy Graduates Regardless of Their Political Views

Vice President Vance Honors Naval Academy Graduates

On Friday, Vice President JD Vance set aside political discussions to express pride in the accomplishments of Naval Academy alumni, crediting President Donald Trump’s administration for its positive impact on them.

As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Vance emphasized the weight of responsibility that all graduates face as they step into service. Reflecting on his nearly 41 years of life, he mentioned that he feels less pride in his personal achievements compared to the honor of recognizing the Naval Academy graduates.

“I’ve been the vice president for about 120 days now. This summer, I’ll be celebrating my 41st birthday,” Vance stated. “But today, I feel more proud than ever to acknowledge you, to commend you, to uplift your efforts.”

The vice president noted the legacy of John Paul Jones, often hailed as the “father of the Navy,” highlighting that his spirit lives on through the current generation of servicemen and women. “Their examples are within you, and your courage must remain steadfast and bold, all while safeguarding freedom,” Vance remarked. “Stay true to your convictions, even if the stakes are high.”

Discussing Trump’s recent trip to the Middle East, Vance characterized it as a catalyst for “generational change” in foreign policy aimed at fostering global peace. Following his visit, Trump announced a temporary easing of sanctions on Syria and expressed hope regarding the nuclear deal with Iran, which drew approval from some Democrats who labeled the trip a success in foreign diplomacy.

Maharika Archureta, a Naval Academy graduate, expressed her admiration for Vance’s speech, calling it “an incredible honor” to share the platform with him. She noted his story illustrates that “your beginnings do not determine how far you can go.”
