Aidan Hutchinson Returns Strong
Aidan Hutchinson is back on the field and feeling ready.
The talented pass rusher for the Lions has been fully cleared after an extensive recovery from a serious injury—a broken tibia and fibula sustained in week 6 against the Cowboys.
“I’m rolling with the boy now, and I feel like I’m back to myself again,” Hutchinson expressed on Thursday. “I’m really looking forward to the season, and I think this is the most exciting thing for the OTA in my life. This is the longest I’ve gone without playing.”
The 24-year-old defensive star had a phenomenal start to his NFL career before the injury, recording 7.5 sacks in just five games before his setback.
He had vowed to return if the Lions made it to a Super Bowl after Detroit’s playoff elimination against Washington.
“In tough moments, you try to find some silver lining. But, at the same time, you can’t help but ask, ‘Why?'” Hutchinson reflected. “That’s why you lean on your faith, which I did, and it was a challenging few months.”
Hutchinson emphasized, “You want to be part of ongoing victories. Even when you’re part of a team, when you’re sidelined, it can feel isolating.” Now, with hopes set on his first Super Bowl appearance, he’s all in with the Lions.
“A lot of people might think this is as high as I can go, but I’m still striving for more,” Hutchinson said confidently. “At 24, I feel I’m far from my peak.”
Meanwhile, Hutchinson will be key to the Detroit defense, now under new coordinator Kelvin Shepherd following Aaron Glenn’s appointment as head coach for the Jets.
