CNN’s Jake Tapper, who has co-authored a new book concerning former President Joe Biden’s alleged efforts to conceal his health decline, pointed out that Donald Trump hasn’t been fully transparent about his health information either.
During a discussion, Tapper emphasized the need for more assertive demands for transparency regarding health issues. He feels this is an area where the press, including himself, should push harder.
On Tuesday, Tapper’s book, titled “Original Sin” and co-authored with Axios reporter Alex Thompson, was released. The content explores attempts by some of Biden’s aides and allies to disguise the reality of his mental and physical health, presenting a picture of the president that he often appeared to embody throughout his time in office.
In conversation with fellow co-authors Thompson and Blitzer, Tapper expressed skepticism about Trump’s openness regarding his health. He remarked, “President Trump seems healthy, but he hasn’t fully disclosed his health records. I believe the American public deserves access to this information.”
Tapper has faced criticism from certain observers who suspect he may be part of a cover-up, particularly by downplaying the signs of Biden’s decline. Critics argue he’s profited from prevailing narratives surrounding Biden’s health reports and their shortcomings.
On April 13, 2025, the White House revealed that Trump underwent a physical examination on April 11th. The summary conveyed that Trump was in “excellent health,” with strong heart, lung, and nerve functions, thanks to an active lifestyle contributing positively to his well-being.
Colonel Sean P. Barbabera, Trump’s physician, stated, “We conducted a thorough examination, including various diagnostic tests and consultations with multiple specialists. The President consented to the public release of the findings.” He added that Trump’s comprehensive checkup affirmed his robust health status.
Meanwhile, the dialogue surrounding Biden’s health has intensified, with some lawmakers expressing concerns. In June 2024, it was reported that staff members and lawmakers were divided over Biden’s health, with some reiterating he is fit while others shared stories casting doubt on that perspective. In a recent turn of events, Biden was diagnosed with prostate cancer, which his spokesperson later confirmed.
On Monday, Biden shared images with his wife, Jill, following the disclosure of his diagnosis, illustrating a personal side amidst the ongoing discussions about his health.
