Raghav Chadha, AAP MP, Supports Harvard Following Trump’s Ban on Foreign Students: I Am Proud of My Roots

Criticism of Trump’s Ban on International Students at Harvard

New Delhi: AAP MP Raghav Chadha has sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s recent decision to bar Harvard from enrolling international students. He argues this policy could jeopardize the futures of these students, particularly those hoping to study at Harvard.

In a social media post, Chadha expressed his concerns, saying, “President Trump’s recent moves threaten the dreams and futures of Harvard and beyond. As a proud member of the Harvard community, I wear my colours to support inclusion and academic freedom.”

As a graduate of Harvard, Chadha voiced his support for those impacted by the decision, stating, “I stand with @harvard and all international students whose dreams and futures are threatened. We must advocate for academic freedom and global collaboration.”

In response to the ban, Harvard University has condemned the move as illegal and unjust, asserting it endangers the future of thousands of students and academics.

The university has initiated legal action, seeking temporary restraining orders and other remedies. Harvard’s president released a statement outlining the federals’ revocation of their accreditation under the Student and Exchange Visitors Program, which prevents them from sponsoring international students for J-Visas.

Harvard reiterated its commitment to the international community, emphasizing the importance of defending academic freedom and supporting those affected by this decision.

In a firm statement, the university condemned the government’s actions as both illegal and unfair, warning that they threaten the future of aspiring students and academics looking to realize their dreams in the U.S. Harvard’s International Office has committed to providing regular updates as new information comes in.

Moreover, the statement indicated that the government justified its actions due to Harvard’s alleged failure to comply with information requests from the Department of Homeland Security.

Harvard’s response clarified that they had met the requirements set by the department and reassured affected international students and academics of their integral role within the community.

Earlier, the White House asserted that registering international students is a privilege, not a right. They criticized Harvard for supposedly creating an environment hostile to American values.

A White House spokesperson cited a failure on Harvard’s part to address issues impacting American students and indicated that consequences would ensue as a result of their inactions.

This ongoing conflict encompasses broader issues, with the Trump administration pushing for actions against what it describes as anti-Semitism on campus and policies promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
