New Orleans police detain Emmit Weber for assisting with a prison break at Orleans Parish Correctional Facility

Another suspect linked to the recent escape from a New Orleans prison was arrested on Friday, according to law enforcement authorities.

The New Orleans Police Department reported that four individuals were detained at a residence. Emmitt Weber, 28, was taken into custody on charges of being an accessory after a straightforward escape.

Weber allegedly assisted two inmates following their breakout from the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility.

This arrest adds to the list of suspects involved in the escape that occurred on May 16. As of now, five out of the ten escaped inmates remain at large.

The most recent capture was Corey Boyd, who was apprehended on Tuesday.

Other inmates who have been recaptured include Kendel Miles, Robert Moody, Doken Dennis, and Gary Price.

Additionally, two other individuals, Casey Smith and Colny Harris, were arrested for reportedly aiding in the escape.

A woman named Connie Weeden, 59, allegedly sent cash to Donald using a mobile app. She now faces charges as an accessory after the fact.

The ongoing search for the remaining fugitives continues:

  • Renton J. Vanbren Jr., 26, is charged with illegal transport of weapons, possession of firearms as a felon, obstructing justice, and introducing contraband into a prison.
  • Jermaine Donald, 42, faces serious charges including second-degree murder, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
  • Antoine Massey, 32, is up against domestic abuse charges, including strangulation and car theft.
  • Derrick Groves, 27, has three second-degree murder charges and has allegedly assaulted a correctional facility employee.
  • Leo O. Tate Sr. (31) faces multiple charges, including simple robbery, illegal weapon possession, and drug-related offenses.

Authorities have stressed that these individuals are considered armed and dangerous, urging the public to remain vigilant.
