Family Claims Innocence of Kentucky Crypto Entrepreneur
Relatives of a Kentucky cryptocurrency entrepreneur, accused of serious crimes including torture and conspiracy, insist he is innocent and has been manipulated by others. They describe John Watts as a victim in a troubling situation.
Watts has been held without bail, facing allegations of attempting to physically assault an Italian businessman. Family members characterize him as an easy target, claiming he’s been caught up in a disastrous scenario.
A family member shared, “He’s 37 years old, kind and caring. It’s heartbreaking to think he was under complete control of others.” They went on to explain how he became ensnared in this problematic situation.
“Everyone’s getting calls saying, ‘John’s friend, his girlfriend, was on the train, and this guy hijacked his life,’” she stated with a hint of frustration.
Continuing, she described how they believe he was taken advantage of: “He’s been manipulated and scammed. They might’ve even stolen his money,” she emphasized, insisting on his victimization.
Despite the gravity of the situation, sources report Watts has led a rather affluent lifestyle, owning a private jet and helicopter. His court appearance in Manhattan was marked by the requirement to surrender his passport. Authorities are still pursuing at least one more suspect.
Details surrounding the case are disturbing, with allegations that threats were made against the victim’s family while in Italy. Reports indicate that the victim was in a precarious position at a multi-bedroom penthouse, where he attempted to prevent unauthorized access to important accounts.
