Lawyer in New York City seeks $65,000 following United Airlines flight cancellation

NYC Lawyers Seek $65,000 from United Airlines

After a June 28, 2023 flight from Newark to San Francisco was canceled, NYC lawyers are pursuing United Airlines for $65,000. Jonathan Davidoff, who is leading the lawsuit, claims that the airline cited mechanical issues and weather conditions for the cancellation.

However, Davidoff, a 52-year-old frequent flyer who’s racked up over 20 million miles with United, noted that the weather was actually clear when he arrived to board his flight 2032. He was traveling to California to attend Winesaus, a small wine enterprise he owns.

According to Davidoff, United Airlines often lacks sufficient staffing to operate all scheduled flights. He stated in the Manhattan Supreme Court that he is representing himself. He criticized the airline for its practices, saying that when they don’t have enough staff, they simply decide which flight to cancel, selling tickets for those flights regardless.

Davidoff was also set to travel to Las Vegas and ultimately plans to cancel that trip as well. He mentioned that while he did receive a refund for his ticket, he received no compensation for the inconvenience. “After exhausting my efforts with United and the Department of Transportation’s claims, there was no response,” he explained.

He expressed frustration over what he perceives as United’s misinformation and their unwillingness to take responsibility for their actions. “I think United can do more. It seems they’re punishing customers when changes are needed or when extra baggage is involved, yet they don’t seem to face any consequences when they make a mistake,” he commented.

United Airlines opted not to comment on the situation.
