According to police sources, a housing officer with the NYPD was brutally attacked by two men while still in uniform, resulting in theft and leaving him unconscious.
The 27-year-old officer had just completed his work shift and was heading to his personal vehicle on St. Peter’s Avenue in Parkchester around 4:10 a.m.
Sources indicated that the officer, whose name has not been released, suffered a broken eye socket after being kicked in the head while lying on the ground.
He was transported to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition as of Saturday.
At the time of the incident, the officer had called for assistance from another officer when one of the assailants approached him, allegedly pleading with the attacker before the assault took place.
In addition to the officer’s firearm, the robber also made off with his wallet, ID card, and both his personal and NYPD-issued cell phones, according to sources.
This incident is currently being investigated in connection with a broader pattern of robberies occurring in the Bronx, police stated.
