Colorado Family’s Troubling Situation
The daughter of a suspect in a Colorado incident suggested that the family’s move to the U.S. was meant to support her medical aspirations. Habiba Soliman, originally from Egypt, moved with her family from Kuwait two years ago and began attending Thomas McClallen School near Colorado Springs. She noted that her education was part of the “best and brightest” scholarship program in a local publication.
Habiba said watching her father’s medical struggles sparked her desire to pursue a career in medicine. She was inspired by his surgeries, particularly a procedure that allowed her to walk again. In her scholarship application, she explained how the move to America provided opportunities that were unavailable in Kuwait, where residency laws hindered her chances of enrolling in medical school.
Her application reflected a transformative experience: “Moving to America has fundamentally changed me,” she expressed. Habiba mentioned learning to adapt, even when faced with challenges, and highlighted the support of her family.
However, her circumstances took a drastic turn. Habiba, her mother, and her four brothers were recently taken into custody for their involvement in a Boulder protest, where a Molotov cocktail was thrown, injuring 12 people. This march was meant to honor Israeli hostages.
Reports indicate that her father, Mohamed Sabri Soliman, is facing serious charges after allegedly orchestrating the attack amid personal struggles. He was reportedly in the U.S. illegally after overstaying his visa, and law enforcement sources suggest he had been planning the attack for over a year, waiting for his daughter to finish high school.
Soliman allegedly intended to target march participants with incendiary devices and had even attempted to procure a firearm, though his status prevented that. Video evidence pointed to him shouting anti-Semitic slurs during the incident, fueling concerns about escalating hate crimes.
Following his arrest, he reportedly expressed violent intentions toward the Jewish community. A note left for his family hinted that he viewed the attack as a suicide mission.
