Trump Administration Delivers $9.4 Billion Cuts Proposal to the House

Trump Administration Proposes $9.4 Billion Budget Cut

The Trump administration has delivered a $9.4 billion budget cut proposal to the House, aiming to eliminate what they describe as “unwise foreign aid expenditures,” according to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

In a joint statement, Johnson, along with Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN), and Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI), emphasized that Republicans aim to meet their responsibilities while promoting a more efficient federal government.

“Today, the House has officially received a request from the White House to cut down on wasteful foreign aid in agencies like the State Department and USAID, as well as programs funding NPR and PBS. This is about fostering a more effective federal government,” they stated.

They continued, “This is precisely what the American people deserve. Next week, we plan to introduce a retirement bill on the House floor and we hope everyone will show their support for this sensible measure.”

The House Oversight Committee also confirmed the White House’s submission of the $9.4 billion budget cut proposal.

“These organizations undermine America’s core values using taxpayer money,” the House Oversight Committee expressed. “We are prepared to put an end to this propaganda operation.”

The news about the proposal surfaced following an interview where Russell Vought told Fox News host Larry Kudlow that the administration’s budget cut package would soon be presented to Congress.

Kudlow asked, “So, there are rumors about a significant withdrawal package, is there any truth to that?”

Vought responded, “Yes, we expect to receive the first budget cut proposal as soon as the House reconvenes on Monday or Tuesday, and this was formulated in discussions.”

Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) elaborated in a statement that the White House is forwarding the $9.4 billion budget cut package to Congress, asserting that President Trump and his administration are fulfilling a commitment they had made.

“With our national debt skyrocketing to an alarming $36 trillion, this budget cut package takes necessary steps to ensure that funds directed toward programs often justified as ‘foreign aid’ or public broadcasting are re-evaluated for their political bias,” Marshall noted.

He added that “under the Water Storage Management Act, the Trump administration can request Congress to retract funds that had previously been allocated through a budget cut package.”
