Rep. Crockett says Trump disrespects her because her 'message is working'

Jasmine Crockett Responds to Trump Criticism

Representative Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, recently shared her thoughts on President Donald Trump’s remarks about her, claiming he had belittled her. In her appearance on the IheartMedia podcast “Outlaw with TS Madison,” she discussed her increasing prominence within the Democratic Party and how it has led to backlash from some critics.

According to Crockett, she won’t be distracted by those who doubt her qualifications or attempt to shame her, particularly regarding Trump. She remarked, “Dealing with Trump – he tends to use coded language. Basically, he’s trying to put a target on my back.”

Crockett’s Perspective

Crockett believes Trump is responding to her effectiveness as a communicator. “He literally mentions someone who’s just starting their second term in Congress and asks who’s trying to reach whose level? He knows my message resonates; he understands that I present true information.”

She further asserted that her messages are reaching even those outside her party, stating, “I always make sure to back up what I say and I’m not afraid to challenge anyone on inaccuracies.” She feels Trump is used to a different kind of Democrat—those who, in her words, “keep their heads down.” She prefers to be more proactive, engaging openly.

On another occasion, she disclosed to a Dallas reporter that she receives appreciation from Republicans as well, despite party lines. This highlights her complicated relationship with her political identity and how her message seems to cross boundaries.

In response to Crockett’s rising visibility, Trump has made light of her situation, remarking that she has a “low IQ” and questioning her role in the party’s future during a Republican congressional dinner.

While Crockett hasn’t fully defined her place in the evolving Democratic landscape, she appears undeterred by the critiques. The White House, as of now, has not commented on this exchange.
