Trump suggests looking into Biden aides' use of autopen due to cognitive decline.

Former President Donald Trump has asked Attorney General Pam Bondy to investigate allegations that individuals affiliated with former President Joe Biden might have conspired to mislead the public regarding Biden’s mental health and potentially used an autopen to carry out presidential duties.

In a memo released on Wednesday, Trump pointed out the significant authority a president holds through their signature, emphasizing that it can create laws, appoint high-level officials, and modify national policies, including aspects of criminal justice.

He argued that Biden’s aides have exploited this power, particularly using an autopen, to obscure Biden’s declining mental faculties and to assert presidential powers outlined in Article 2. Trump referred to this as one of the gravest scandals in American history, claiming that the public was kept in the dark about the true nature of Biden’s leadership.

Trump contended that Biden has been grappling with serious cognitive decline for several years, with recent findings from the Department of Justice suggesting that, notwithstanding evidence of legal breaches linked to his mental state, Biden shouldn’t face trial.

Reflecting on Biden’s presidency, Trump noted that despite Biden’s condition, the White House had issued over 1,200 presidential documents, appointed 235 judges, and granted more pardons than any other administration.

Two days before Christmas in 2024, Biden reportedly commuted the sentences of 37 dangerous federal offenders, including those convicted of mass and child murder.

Trump described the way Biden’s executive actions were conducted with skepticism, stating that most were signed with an autopen rather than Biden’s own hand, especially as Biden’s cognitive issues became more apparent toward the end of his presidency.

He expressed serious concerns regarding the decision-making processes behind Biden’s actions and whether Biden truly understood the implications of those actions. Trump’s memo demands an inquiry into whether individuals within Biden’s inner circle conspired to keep the public unaware of Biden’s cognitive competences.

Moreover, Trump suggested that these aides might have pushed false narratives regarding Biden’s mental health, possibly manipulating media coverage to project an image contrary to the reality of Biden’s capabilities. The investigation Trump called for would also scrutinize executive actions, grants, and directives that may have been influenced by the use of autopens.

Last week, Trump suggested that Biden actually disagreed with certain policies from his own administration, hinting that aides had accounted for Biden’s mental decline to manipulate policy decisions. House Republicans, led by James Comer, have commenced an inquiry into Biden’s capability to make decisions, stating they are open to questioning him in front of Congress if necessary.
