Michelle Obama Releases Book on Fashion and Style

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has unveiled a new book that reflects on her favorite fashion and style moments throughout the years. The book is titled “The Look” and aims to showcase beauty and personal expression, especially during her time in the White House.

In her own words, she mentioned, “During my family time at the White House, my appearance was constantly dissected. What I was wearing, how my hair was styled.” She expressed a desire to share her narrative about beauty after feeling scrutinized. Obama highlighted her current comfort in expressing herself freely, saying, “I look forward to sharing some of the things I learned along the way.”

This new book, priced at $50, is set to be released on November 4th. It will feature over 200 images, including many that are previously unpublished. According to Crown Publishing Group, the book offers readers a look behind the scenes of her most memorable outfits and the significant moments associated with them.

Obama explained that the book goes beyond just fashion; it touches on themes of confidence and identity. She has previously discussed how her style choices were often under the microscope during her time in office.

Reflecting on her time in the White House, she revealed that she chose to straighten her hair while her husband, Barack Obama, was president because she felt the American public wasn’t ready for her natural look, particularly with braids. “Let’s keep your hair straight,” she reflected about her mindset at that time.

Moreover, she shared a lighthearted moment during a podcast, recalling how fashion played a part in her decision to skip Donald Trump’s second inauguration, stating, “It started with nothing to wear.” She maintains a positive outlook, reflecting her preparedness for unexpected events.
