Doing the right thing often comes with its own rewards.

Micakele Baker gained attention after celebrating her high school graduation with her coworker at Burger King. In her cap and gown, she didn’t hesitate to hop behind the counter to assist, always prioritizing others, as her sister proudly noted.

“I don’t think he truly realizes how selfless he is,” Mica Baker shared about her 18-year-old brother.

The Georgia teen was recognized as “the most selfless” in his high school band just a week prior to the moment when a video showcasing him helping out went viral, captivating many across the country.

As the youngest of eight siblings raised by a single mother, Baker has always been the one to support others.

“He does these things instinctively; it’s just part of who he is,” Mica elaborated.

After graduating from Mill Creek High School, Baker took his mother and grandmother to Burger King. When he saw a colleague struggling with a busy dinner rush, he stepped in to help, and his mother recorded the moment, which went viral soon after the graduation ceremony.

The video has now garnered over 4 million views online, leading to a GoFundMe campaign named after him, which has raised nearly $200,000 to support his future educational endeavors.

“Our family feels incredibly thankful that people see Myke’s (his family nickname) true worth,” shared Mycah.

In addition to this support, Baker received $10,000 from the Burger King Foundation on Monday to assist with future studies.

“This story represents more than just a viral sensation. It highlights the remarkable kindness and the profound impact of acting selflessly,” remarked a spokesperson from the foundation.

Growing up, Baker was a quiet child who enjoyed hands-on work, according to Mica.

“He has people who truly care about him, so I think he’s really looking forward to what lies ahead.”
