Exclusive Look at the Gilgo Beach Killer in New Documentary
A new three-part documentary series, Gilgo Beach Killer: Secret House, invites viewers into the home of infamous serial killer Rex Heuermann. Heuermann, a former architect from Long Island, was arrested in July 2023 in connection with a series of crimes that shook the community.
This documentary, in tandem with Netflix’s Gone Girls: Long Island Serial Killers, explores how the Gilgo Beach murders were discovered and sheds light on Heuermann’s life. It provides a unique glimpse into his personal life as well as the experiences of his family members, raising questions about how much they truly knew about his actions.
His wife, Asa Elupp, as heard in the trailer, poses a haunting question: “Why don’t you know?” It hints at a deeper complexity of their life together, as they seem to navigate the chilling reality of his dual existence. The trailer itself paints a stark picture of Heuermann’s world—balancing life as a family man and a suspected killer in Manhattan.
One particularly unsettling moment shows Heuermann speaking with his wife from prison. When he inquires about her well-being, she responds, “I have you on the phone, so I’m doing great things.” The emotional weight of their exchange adds another layer to the already tense atmosphere.
This ambitious project comes from Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s G-Unit Film and Television, alongside Texas Crew Productions and New York Post Entertainment.
