Fugitive Dad Sought in Connection with Daughters’ Deaths
A new image has surfaced of a survivalist from Washington state, who is now accused of murdering his own daughters. Federal authorities have raised alarms about him potentially fleeing to Canada after a two-week-long pursuit.
Travis Decker, aged 32, has been missing since his three daughters — Paityn, 9; Evelyn, 8; and Olivia, 5 — were reported missing and later found dead. The girls were first reported missing a few days after their bodies were discovered.
On June 7, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office shared an updated wanted poster featuring new images of Decker.
Search Efforts Intensify
Law enforcement considering Decker “dangerous” indicated that he may be armed, as the search for him continues. Hundreds of officers are scouring local woodlands and structures, with the state’s National Guard being deployed late last week.
The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office noted that extensive searches have been conducted in nearby forested areas, rivers, and various buildings where Decker was last seen. They emphasized ongoing efforts based on public tips and additional search warrants.
Tragic Discovery of the Girls
The bodies of the three girls were discovered at a campsite in Chelan County, with disturbing signs suggesting they may have been choked and found with plastic bags over their heads.
Decker’s Google search history reportedly revealed queries about moving to Canada, raising concerns about his intention to flee. Authorities have not provided immediate responses to requests for further clarification.
Concerns about Decker’s Background
His ex-wife, Whitney Decker, informed law enforcement that he failed to return from a court-ordered visit three days after he had time with the girls. Decker was permitted weekend visits but not overnight stays, according to a parenting plan he never signed.
Whitney noted that Decker had a history of mental health issues, specifically mentioning borderline personality disorders. He was also described as homeless and had been living in motels and campsites.
State officials continue to actively search for Decker, who stands approximately five feet, eight inches tall and weighs around 190 pounds. Authorities remain uncertain if he is armed, but they have classified him as dangerous.
Legal Charges Against Decker
Travis Decker faces three counts of aggravated first-degree murder. If convicted, he is likely to receive a life sentence without the chance of parole.
