These filings highlight two new rounds of closures, impacting more than 230 stores across 14 states.
The documents specify which stores are next on the chopping block. Yet, it’s worth mentioning that closures may not occur immediately, as there’s a possibility of objections being raised.

Combining this recent announcement with earlier rounds, Rite Aid is looking at nearly 600 stores slated to shut down.
There hasn’t been a clear timeline shared yet for when exactly these closures will happen. Local officials in various impacted areas have reportedly shared notifications about the forthcoming closures.
For instance, in Bakersfield, California, a Rite Aid store is expected to close by July 1, affecting many in the community. A warning was filed in New York, indicating that closures were on the horizon starting from early June. However, this only marked the beginning of the closure process for those locations.
Last month, a significant portion of Rite Aid’s 1,240 stores became available for sale as part of the bankruptcy procedure. Other retail pharmacy chains might take over some of these locations. In a bid to acquire some stores, CVS agreed to take over 64 Rite Aid stores in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. However, the specific details of this acquisition remain pending final approval.
Meanwhile, Walgreens has also made a deal with Rite Aid to obtain prescription files from several pharmacies in nine states.
Rite Aid has stated that their stores will stay operational as they assist customers in transitioning their prescriptions elsewhere. They’re prepared to aid Rite Aid customers during this shift.
