Marine Veteran Shot by Illegal Immigrant
Reports have surfaced indicating that illegal immigrants were involved in the shooting of Marine veterans who were working as security guards.
Jimmy Friesenhaan, a 44-year-old veteran, was reportedly injured while trying to protect patrons from an armed individual at El Patio Sports Bar in San Antonio, Texas. According to his brother-in-law, Emmanuel Martinez, Friesenhaan attempted to take the weapon from the man.
During the struggle, it’s said that Friesenhaan was shot, and the police have identified the suspect as Wilmer Vladmir Ortega Lewis, an immigrant allegedly in the U.S. illegally.
Friesenhaan was shot three times—twice in the vest and once in the neck—leading to severe injuries, including a ruptured esophagus and spinal cord damage. As a result, he is reportedly paralyzed and unable to speak.
He has undergone six surgeries, and Martinez expressed concern that Friesenhaan’s condition is worsening. “Jimmy’s sacrifice saved people because there’s talk that the guy was going to go inside and do something there,” Martinez remarked.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is now involved, as Ortega Lewis had a prior criminal history. He had been arrested multiple times, including for a DWI in October 2020, yet upon being released on recognized bonds, he failed to appear in court on multiple occasions. The District Attorney’s office has since reduced his charges.
Ortega Lewis’s record includes three additional arrests for other charges, and now he faces aggravated assault charges with a bond set at $200,000. Friesenhaan’s sister, Evangelina Borjong, disagreed with the charges, insisting it should be classified as attempted murder instead.
Martinez has initiated a fundraising campaign to assist Friesenhaan with medical expenses, criticizing the local judicial system’s handling of Ortega Lewis’s repeated offenses. “It’s ridiculous… they’re making this guy abandon multiple times,” Martinez told the outlet.
Efforts to reach the District Attorney’s office for comments went unanswered at publication time.
