Federal Court Ruling on Naples Pride Fest
A federal appeals court decided on Friday that performances at Naples’ Pride Fest must take place indoors, limited to adult audiences, in a closely watched First Amendment case. This ruling came just hours before the 7th Annual PrideFest was set to start at Fox 4 Cambier Park.
The 11th Circuit concluded that the Napoli Pride organization is not significantly harmed by such restrictions, noting that similar measures had been implemented in past years, including 2023. The decision indicates ongoing legal disputes around the event.

The Pride Committee and the ACLU argued this was a violation of the First Amendment, but the court disagreed. They couldn’t perform in front of children!

City officials explained that the permit conditions, which include indoor performances and age restrictions, were enforced due to “legitimate public safety concerns identified by law enforcement.”
Following the ruling, the city of Naples reiterated its commitment to public safety while also acknowledging the importance of constitutional rights and maintaining control in public areas.
In reaction, Naples’ Pride criticized the court’s decision, arguing it overlooked prior restrictions that infringe upon free speech. They pointed out that legal battles against the city will continue.
Nonetheless, PrideFest plans to proceed at Cambier Park on Saturday, with the drag performances relocated to the nearby Norris Center, which can accommodate 200 attendees per show. Three performances are planned, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis and through donations.
“PrideFest is going ahead as scheduled,” the group urged supporters to come and bring “your laughter, your joy, your truth, your friends, and your perfect self.”
