Bethenny Frankel Responds to Joy Behar’s Comments

Former “Real Housewives of New York” star Bethenny Frankel fired back at “The View” co-host Joy Behar after Behar made remarks about Frankel’s appearance on the daytime talk show.

In a video, Frankel criticized Behar’s comments, saying, “So Joy Behar swipes over me with ‘The View.’ Whoopi [Goldberg]—I was talking about the show, and none of us looked like we just rolled out of bed two hours ago. It took a glam team to get ready,” referencing her recent fashion show participation.

Frankel, who is 54, shared her experience walking in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit runway last week and noted how much preparation it took. During “The View,” a clip of her comments was featured.

In response to Behar’s remarks, Frankel pointed out, “These are lifts that were done 15 or 20 years ago. It’s about showing that women of my age can live happily and freely.” She expressed, “It’s disheartening that some portray an older, unhappy, and washed-out image of women, while we’re trying to demonstrate the opposite.”

She felt that Behar’s comments were indicative of her own unhappiness, saying, “To downplay something self-deprecating like that? You’d have to be pretty miserable.” Frankel further suggested that women should be proud and embrace their age, rather than adhere to negative stereotypes.

Behar had laughed along with her audience during the segment, which seemed to resonate with them.

In her online video, Frankel explained that many women don’t naturally look flawless just before a runway appearance. She highlighted that the images portrayed in Hollywood, like those of Kim Kardashian or Beyoncé, affect perceptions, stating, “The visuals you and your daughters see are all about glam and filtered images.”

“The View” representatives did not respond to requests for comment. Meanwhile, co-host Sarah Haynes noted the extensive behind-the-scenes preparation needed for such appearances, touching on the realities of airbrushing and social media filters.
