Bill Gates’ Secret Visit to the White House

Recently, Bill Gates made a discreet visit to the White House, reaching out to Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss foreign aid reductions, as reported.

The billionaire philanthropist, known for co-founding Microsoft, has openly criticized the efficiency cuts proposed by Elon Musk. This comes after some tensions between Gates and the Tesla founder. According to a newsletter from former Pack reporter Tara Palmeli, Gates aimed to persuade Rubio to reconsider funding cuts.

It’s worth noting that both President Trump and Musk have exchanged sharp comments online recently, leading to a split in their political partnership that started during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Gates apparently viewed this moment as an opportunity to advocate against Musk’s financial reductions. The cuts have impacted the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), slashing over $8 billion in funding, particularly affecting critical health initiatives in Africa, such as HIV and malaria prevention.

Unfortunately for Gates, Rubio reportedly expressed that there were no plans to reverse these cuts.

A credible source familiar with the situation indicated to Palmeli that earlier discussions had taken place regarding a meeting between Gates and Rubio.

Gates was seen at the West Wing and Eisenhower Executive Office Building around 4 PM, shortly after Trump left for his golf course in Bedminster.

Officials from the administration didn’t confirm or deny that Gates had met with the president. White House spokesperson Anna Kelly communicated that Rubio had been declining meeting requests from Gates for several months, as reported by Teddy Schleifer of the New York Times.

In previous statements, Gates expressed his outrage toward the cuts, claiming they could harm the world’s poorest children. Musk, in turn, has previously critiqued Gates over his connections to Jeffrey Epstein, questioning his character.

A senior State Department official emphasized that Rubio’s stance on foreign aid cuts remains unchanged, asserting that U.S. taxpayers should not fund less essential overseas projects. The official reiterated that under the Trump administration, foreign aid would only support initiatives that align with national interests.

As of now, comments from Gates on this matter have not been obtained.
