Indiana Fever Triumphs Over Chicago Sky

The Indiana Fever faced off against the Chicago Sky in their latest matchup, which ended with a surprising score of 79-52, even as they played without a key player due to a quad injury. Unfortunately, the Sky also experienced a setback when star player Courtney Vandersloot suffered a serious knee injury during the game, leaving her return uncertain.

More than 19,000 fans filled the United Center, marking a significant moment as it was the venue’s inaugural WNBA game hosted by the Chicago Bulls. On that day, many fans gathered to witness the action live, creating an electrifying atmosphere.

The WNBA reported that the game attracted an average of 1.92 million viewers, making it the third most-viewed game aired by CBS, which was quite a boost for the network’s usual regular-season game audience.

In fact, the league noted that at one point, the viewer count peaked at 2.16 million, indicating a growing interest in women’s basketball.

Interestingly, Caitlyn Clark from the Fever shared her enjoyment of her teammate Lexi Hull’s quirky habits during the game, adding a light-hearted moment to the competitive spirit.

According to sources, the United Center’s capacity was slightly limited due to ongoing construction, which somewhat affected attendance, with around 19,496 fans present instead of the usual capacity of nearly 21,000.

Despite the loss, the Sky, now standing at 2-5 for the season, has had a tough start. As of the latest standings, only the Connecticut Sun and Dallas Wings are trailing beneath them in the WNBA rankings.

Earlier in May, the Sky and Fever had a matchup that drew 2.7 million viewers, setting the record for the most-watched WNBA regular season game in 25 years. The Fever had dominated that game as well, achieving a 93-58 victory with peak views reaching 3.1 million.
