Jane Seymour and Joe Rand Reunite on ‘Harry Wilde’
It’s been over 30 years since Jane Seymour and Joe Rand graced our screens as one of television’s cherished couples, and their chemistry still shines.
The stars of ‘Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman’ have come together again for the fifth season of ‘Harry Wilde.’ Seymour mentioned that it didn’t take long for everyone on set to notice that the spark was still very much alive.
When asked if he felt that chemistry immediately upon Rand’s arrival on set, Seymour responded enthusiastically, “Oh yeah, that was amazing.”
She reminisced, saying, “I told people, ‘What’s the magic of it? Joe and I share something unique. Even when we’re not in a love scene, there’s genuine chemistry between us.’
Seymour had warned the producers that their reunion could rekindle that familiar magic. Surprisingly, they confirmed her intuition. “After the first day, the director told me, ‘Oh my God, the screen is burning,'” Seymour recalled, noting how natural it felt.
“The director said, ‘Oh my God, it feels like the screen is burning up.’ And I said, ‘It just happens.’”

Bonded by years of friendship and collaboration, this effortless dynamic feels like second nature. “We’ve known each other and worked together for 35 years,” Seymour remarked.
Rand added, “Yeah, 35 years,” nodding to their long history. For Seymour, their partnership feels as easy as a well-synced doubles team. “It’s like playing tennis with your perfect partner,” she said, noting their playful connection and how they manage to get the best out of each other.
The highly anticipated reunion comes with the return of ‘Harry Wilde’ for its fifth season on Acorn TV. New mysteries and stakes lie ahead, alongside the introduction of a character who may shake up Harry’s personal life.
Seymour portrays Harriet “Harry” Wilde and takes on the role of executive producer. She believes the show’s appeal stems from its unique protagonist. “It’s quite unusual for a woman in her 70s and her partner, who’s probably 20 years younger, to solve crimes,” she pointed out, also praising co-star Rohan Ned for his appealing performance as Fergus.
The chemistry among the cast has been extraordinary, she remarked, and it plays a key role in the show’s success.
This season, producers are looking to add some romance to the mix, hinting that “Harry might want to have a romantic moment.” To accomplish this, they’ve introduced a new character, state pathologist Pierce Kennedy, played by Rand. Seymour noted it was the writers’ decision to include Rand, seeking someone with an equal intellectual stature.
However, whether Pierce can be trusted remains wrapped in mystery. Rand jokingly said, “I don’t think he’s a hero yet… there’s something in his past he’s trying to keep secret from Harry.”
This role marks a shift for Rand, who has typically played more rugged characters. “He’s the most decorated doctor I’ve ever portrayed regarding intelligence,” he reflected. “I’ve played lawyers and many villains, but this is my first role like this.”
Their enduring bond is rooted in experiences long after ‘Dr. Quinn’ ended. When asked how they maintain their relationship, Seymour described their history: “We worked together for seven years and fell in love during the pilot, but reality led us to a strong friendship.”
Rand echoed her sentiments, sharing that it took some time, but they gradually found a solid friendship post-show.
Looking at Seymour, he commented on her incredible energy, recalling her heavy workload while pregnant with twins. “She just goes, goes, goes,” he remarked, likening her to the Energizer Bunny.
Seymour explains her high energy with simplicity: “I love what I do. I just do it, and then I go to sleep when I’m done.”
For fans who have followed their on-screen romance for years, this reunion offers more than just a nostalgic trip down memory lane. ‘Harry Wilde’ Season 5 is available exclusively on Acorn TV.
