Trace mentioned, “He flew to Italy for a fashion show but didn’t make it to LA for Mummy’s funeral.” He added that even with a private jet arranged by his daughter, Billy Ray still didn’t attend.
Trace went on to call his adoptive father an “embarrassment,” saying he felt ashamed for once looking up to him. He mentioned that the only good thing coming from this situation is that he’s now motivated to push himself harder.
On that same day, Miley Cyrus appeared on a podcast, candidly discussing the “messy” dynamics within her family, notably her relationship with her father. Reflecting on their past, she acknowledged that the family experienced a “dark decade,” filled with communication breakdowns. She noted that at one point, half the family wasn’t speaking to each other.
Miley shared her belief in the importance of resolving issues instead of letting them fester, likening the emotional baggage to “hoarding.” She reflected on not seeking therapy, saying that it was sometimes easier to extend a metaphorical “white flag” instead of addressing the issues head-on. She wanted her family to feel like a safe space, even when conversations got difficult.
