GHF Opens Aid Centers Despite Hamas Attack; Historic Number of Meals Provided

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a US aid organization offering alternatives to the UN’s operations in Gaza, resumed its work on Thursday, following a deadly attack by Hamas the day before.

As noted by various sources, Hamas targeted local Palestinian buses affiliated with the GHF, resulting in a rising death toll of eight, with some individuals taken hostage.

After careful deliberation, the GHF opted to continue its efforts, managing to deliver a record number of meals—around 2.6 million—to impoverished Palestinians. John Acree, the interim executive director of GHF, commented:

We are currently gathering more information regarding the unprovoked attacks on our dedicated local team members and volunteers. So far, at least eight fatalities and numerous injuries have been confirmed, and there are fears that some team members may be held hostage.

Despite the increasing security challenges and concerns for safety, we considered shutting down today’s operations, but ultimately decided that the most effective response to Hamas’ violence would be to persist in delivering food to Gaza’s residents who depend on us. Our mission to ensure food security for the Palestinians in Gaza remains unwavering.

As more details become available, we will share them with the public.

Both Hamas and the United Nations view the GHF as a threat, as it challenges their authority in Gaza and undermines their control over local aid. The Trump administration has expressed support for the GHF, aligning it with larger plans to root out terrorist organizations from the region.
