Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen Celebrate Nearly 30 Years of Marriage

Ted Danson and his wife, Mary Steenburgen, feel “nauseous and loving” after almost three decades of being married.

In a recent SiriusXM podcast episode, Danson, who co-hosts a show with Woody Harrelson, shared with guest Brett Goldstein that he’ll be collaborating with Steenburgen in the upcoming second season of “Man on the Inside.” He mentioned how working together again has rekindled their romance.

“Yeah, it’s just magic. We’re in love. The story evolves, but I’m just in love with her, sitting on camera and looking into my wife’s eyes,” Danson expressed.

Goldstein, curious about their collaboration, asked how the couple makes it work, to which Danson replied, “Yeah, that’s tasty.” Goldstein was visibly amazed and inquired about how they separate their professional and personal lives.

Danson shared that they first met on a film set and quickly realized he needed to check his ego at the door. “I realized that part of my job is to host my wife. If she doesn’t have a great time, that’s my attitude,” he explained.

The couple initially crossed paths back in 1983 and tied the knot in 1995, each bringing two children from previous relationships.

Reflecting on their early interactions, Steenburgen reminisced about her initial impressions of Danson. She believed he was a bit of a “smooth guy” like the character he played in “Cheers.” However, her views changed as she got to know him better, adding humorously, “A sophisticated person should not say ‘Ghosh a Rooni.’ I apologize to my granddaughter.”

Steenburgen emphasized that Danson creates a nurturing environment on set, allowing everyone to feel valued. “He is so loving and has such joy in acting that all of us can work in a space defined by his kindness,” she remarked.

Danson also commented on how their most cherished moments together happen early in the day. “The most enjoyable thing is early in the morning,” he revealed, describing their routine of having coffee, playing games, and enjoying each other’s company, even if they’re on different schedules. “It’s like heaven on earth,” he said.
