Warnings Regarding Potential Conflict with Iran
The First American movement leaders have cautioned President Trump that permitting an Israeli strike on Iran might jeopardize his political coalition, potentially leading the U.S. into yet another lengthy conflict in the Middle East.
White House envoy Steve Witkov conveyed to Senate Republican leaders that if Israel were to bomb Iranian nuclear sites, it could result in “major casualties.” A report noted his concerns about Iran’s likely retaliation, which could overwhelm Israel’s defenses and cause substantial damage. U.S. intelligence suggests Iran possesses around 2,000 ballistic missiles.
As tensions escalate between the two nations, Witkov is gearing up for a sixth round of negotiations with Iran.
Iranian President Masuud Pezeshkian stated that Iran would not consider ceasing uranium enrichment, which appears to be a non-negotiable stance for the country.
Amid ongoing negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, it seems that a significant majority of Republicans are in favor of Trump’s attempts to reach an agreement aimed at curtailing Iran’s nuclear program.
On Thursday, Trump mentioned he was in talks with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu to dissuade him from attacking Iran.
Trump remarked, “Look, I want to agree with Iran. We’re pretty close to an agreement… As long as I think there’s a potential deal, I don’t want them to take any action.”
Many leaders advocating for an American-first policy have warned that permitting Israel to engage Iran could be politically detrimental for the administration.
Federalist co-founder Sean Davis commented, “For America to be strong, it needs to protect its borders, have a robust economy, and respect rule of law. We’re in a divided state now, with bits of internal conflict that could undermine our nation’s foundations. These are the reasons Trump was elected—not to initiate another war in the Middle East.”
Host of the show Breakpoint, Sagar Enjeti, noted, “The notion of an independent Israeli strike is misleading; it’s a U.S.-sanctioned operation, and we must challenge it.”
Jacques Posobiek posed a pertinent question regarding how a new conflict with Iran might affect gas prices this summer, noting that JP Morgan predicts oil prices could soar to $120 a barrel, potentially leading to $6 a gallon at the pump.
Molly Hemingway highlighted that much of Trump’s support stemmed from his commitment to genuine national security and peace, criticizing the accepted narrative around escalating tensions with Iran. She warned that initiating such conflict could seriously undermine Trump’s political standing and strengthen his opponents.
Matt Walsh expressed his view that Iran does not represent a reliable threat to the U.S. and stressed the unnecessary nature of another Middle Eastern conflict unrelated to national protection.
