Roman Anthony’s Debut at Fenway Park Draws Attention

Roman Anthony, ranked as the top prospect for the Boston Red Sox, made his debut at Fenway Park on Tuesday night. Excitement filled the air as many gathered to see him play.

Interestingly, it wasn’t just Roman who caught attention; his sister, Leah Anthony, also went viral. In an interview, Leah mentioned her plans to stay in Boston and shared that she received a surge of direct messages after being featured during the NESN broadcast of the game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Speaking on the “Greg Hill Show,” Leah noted that her Instagram followers jumped from about 3,000 to over 14,000 in a short period. “It felt surreal,” she expressed, reflecting on her brother’s milestone.

By Thursday evening, her follower count had already surpassed 17,400. While she laughed off some comments—“I got some baseball DMs”—she seemed overwhelmed by the sudden fame. One message humorously asked her to throw back a baseball someone claimed to have accidentally hit in her DMs.

The entire Anthony family packed into the front row at Fenway to watch Roman’s big moment, including his mother Lori and brother Anthony Jr.

During the game, NESN sideline reporter Jahmai Webster interviewed Leah, which contributed to her sudden popularity. However, she remarked that Roman seemed unfazed by all the attention directed at her. “He was definitely shocked,” she said, noting he was focused on his own debut.

This marked Leah’s first visit to Boston, and she described the locals as “amazing.” She even had the chance to meet Red Sox legend David Ortiz, calling it “an unreal experience.”

“My mom was really touched because David Ortiz shared some encouraging words with her about Roman potentially becoming the face of the franchise,” Leah mentioned, reflecting on the supportive atmosphere.

As for Roman, he had a challenging debut, going 4-4 with a sacrifice fly and an RBI. Still, his first career hit—a two-RBI double—came the following day.
