America is currently at a pivotal point.
Since the Biden-Harris administration took office, over 10 million undocumented immigrants have crossed the borders. Among them are violent offenders and possible terrorists. After a tumultuous four years, Americans chose Donald Trump as president, someone who focused on securing borders, removing dangerous individuals, and restoring law and order.
Trump is staying true to that promise, and Senate Republicans are backing him consistently.
Immediate action from Congress is crucial to avoid derailing efforts like those seen in the past.
In his first 100 days, illegal border encounters dropped by 95%. The “Gotaway” rate, referring to undocumented immigrants who evade capture, saw a staggering 99% decrease. Concerns regarding violent criminals and potential terrorists were rapidly addressed.
During this same period, Democrats were seemingly intent on keeping criminals domestically. They took trips funded by taxpayers to El Salvador and defended those facing charges for heinous crimes, including human trafficking and gang-related murders.
Recently, thousands took to the streets of Los Angeles, protesting aggressively against immigration enforcement actions. They set fires, looted stores, and clashed with police. Despite the chaos, Democrats characterized these events as “peaceful.”
Investigations are underway regarding funds for anti-ICE protests after reports emerged about sizable budget requests for paid agitators.
The state remembers the consequences when law enforcement is slow to react to such violence. The 1992 Los Angeles riots resulted in significant loss of life and widespread destruction, ultimately requiring the National Guard to restore order. Thankfully, Trump hasn’t let history repeat itself; he’s made quick decisions to mobilize forces and protect lives and property.
Everyday Americans recognize that attacking law enforcement and engaging in theft is simply wrong.
While Republicans advocate for what is right, Democrats seem to riot in the streets.
As the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman, I recently shared a legislative text addressing these issues, titled “One big beautiful bill.” The provisions focus on significant investments aimed at enhancing our country’s border security and supporting law enforcement, aiming to protect American families from violence, as we witnessed in Los Angeles.
The mayor of Los Angeles has urged the Trump administration to halt ICE arrests of undocumented immigrants.
This bill proposes increased funding for local law enforcement and immigration agencies, which are struggling under the Biden administration’s open-border policies. The Department of Homeland Security plans to expand its workforce and improve the immigrant vetting process, which includes thorough background checks. Additionally, there will be efforts to swiftly remove individuals in the country illegally who have criminal records and to work with local and state agencies to combat gangs and cartels.
These judicial department expenses will be offset by immigration application fees, which aim to introduce accountability into the immigration narrative. The bill also maintains humanitarian protections, allowing for fee waivers under certain circumstances. If sponsors of immigrant children appear as lawfully required in court, the fees will be fully refundable.
With the Biden administration stepping back from its border security responsibilities, patriotic Americans have risen to protect their communities. The Senate Judiciary Committee is taking steps to address the gaps that arose during the past administration.
Protests against ICE continue in Los Angeles, even amidst a mayoral curfew.
The Biden Refund Fund aims to assist states in investigating and prosecuting crimes committed by undocumented individuals, while also covering costs for local courts handling such cases, including drug-related offenses and human trafficking.
American taxpayers have borne the brunt of the expenses tied to the Biden administration’s border mishandling, and now it’s time for them to recover their losses.
Despite attempts by Democrats to support police funding, Senate Republicans are unwavering in their backing of local, state, and federal law enforcement. That’s why we’re working to provide more resources for our dedicated officers.
Protesters against ICE gather outside New Jersey’s immigration detention facility.
Ultimately, the Senate Judiciary Committee is championing a comprehensive solutions package aimed at reaffirming the role of federal judiciary and ensuring courts adhere to current laws. Our initiative will boost the Department of Justice’s capacity to hire more attorneys tasked with managing challenges related to universal injunctions, while closely monitoring their frequency.
The adherence to the rule of law is paramount, and Republicans are dedicated to upholding it. I eagerly anticipate the passage of this law and the fulfillment of President Trump’s promises concerning border safety.
