Massive Military Parade to Mark 250th Anniversary of US Army

A grand military parade is set to take place in Washington, D.C. this Saturday to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army. Interestingly, this event coincides with President Trump’s 79th birthday.

The parade is planned to kick off at 6:30 p.m. local time, following a day filled with festivities at the National Mall. Organizers estimate that the parade will last about 90 minutes.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast isn’t looking great, with rain and thunderstorms expected in the capital. However, Trump reassured potential participants on Thursday, suggesting that a little rain might actually add to the experience. “I hope the weather is fine, but if it doesn’t, it will bring you good fortune,” he mentioned during a Congressional picnic at the White House. He added, somewhat reassuringly, “It doesn’t affect tanks at all. It doesn’t affect soldiers. They’re used to it and it’s tough.”

About 6,700 soldiers, in both historical and modern uniforms, are slated to participate in the parade. There’s even a detailed list of the equipment that will be showcased, including tanks, artillery, tactical vehicles, and aircraft.

If you can’t make it to the event in person or wish to avoid the potential bad weather, there are plenty of options to watch the parade on television or online.

Where to Watch Online:

The parade will be streamed live through the Army’s social media channels, including YouTube and Facebook.

Additionally, The Hill will also stream the parade on their website.

Where to Watch on TV:

Sister network News Nation is preparing special live coverage for the Army birthday celebration, with a parade special titled “Tribute” starting at 6 p.m.

Fox News will provide coverage of the parade from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Most major networks are also expected to broadcast the event through dedicated news streaming channels. ABC News Live, CBS News 24/7, and NBC News will offer live coverage.

Where to Watch in Person:

If you prefer to see the event live, you can catch the parade along Parade NW, near 15th Avenue NW in Ellipse, which is south of the White House. The military also suggests viewing from the Washington Monument for a different perspective.

Entry for parade viewing will begin at 2 p.m., and due to heightened security, it’s advisable to arrive early.
