On Friday, Christian leaders from the American evangelical community called on believers to pray for peace following Israel’s military operations targeting Iran’s nuclear program. This operation was reportedly extensive, with Israel striking about 100 locations, including nuclear facilities, and causing the deaths of several high-ranking officials and scientists.
Here’s what some leaders shared:
Joel C. Rosenberg, author and editor
“I want to express gratitude to President Trump for his courageous stance against Iran’s regime,” Rosenberg stated. He commented after Trump released a statement aligning with Israel. “He offered them chances to negotiate, but they chose not to. Now, consequences have come. Thank you for your support of Israel as we aim to neutralize a nuclear threat from Iran.”
Greg Laurie, Pastor, Harvest Christian Fellowship, California
“This situation is quite serious, and I believe Bible students should tread carefully. The Iranian regime has a long history of supporting worldwide terrorism, especially against Israel. Their pursuit of nuclear weapons has been ongoing, and their leaders have openly aimed to destroy Israel. We need to pray and stay close to the Lord in these perilous times,” Laurie emphasized.
Albert Mohler, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary President
In his podcast, Mohler noted, “Considering Iran’s stated goals which include the obliteration of Israel, it’s clear why Israel would act decisively. However, as Christians, we must recognize that military capability is not the sole concern; there are deeper ideological battles at play, reminding us of the significant theological implications involved.”
Samuel Rodriguez, President of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference
“Let’s pray for Israel and for a peaceful Middle East. I pray for the dismantling of all ideologies that promote terrorism and hatred. We stand for justice and the protection of innocent lives,” Rodriguez said.
Jack Graham, President of Preston Wood Baptist Church, Texas
“Today, it is crucial to pray for Israel, as the recent actions may invite retaliation. For global stability and America’s interests, we must ensure Iran never obtains nuclear weapons. These are dangerous times; we must remain calm and pray for peace in Jerusalem, supporting Israel,” Graham asserted.
