Trump achieves another victory in fight against gender ideology: Children’s Hospital LA to close child sex-change facility

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Closes Gender Transformation Center

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has shut down its gender transformation center for minors. Reports indicate that the facility had caused serious complications, including harm to patients’ genitalia and sterilization from puberty blockers.

Despite expressing commitment to the LGBTQ+ community in Los Angeles, a hospital spokesperson stated, “We have determined that the only viable path forward is to close the Transyouth Health and Development Center on July 22, 2025.”

Clementine Breen, a former patient, reportedly underwent a rapid progression through what critics have termed a damaging process involving puberty blockers at age 12, cross-sex hormones at 13, and surgery at 14.

A recently launched database for monitoring such practices revealed that the center had treated over 3,000 patients and charged millions for services related to hormone therapy and surgeries for minors.

  • The medical director, Johanna Olson Kennedy, has been critiqued for neglecting necessary psychological assessments prior to any medical intervention.
  • Concerns have arisen about surgeries performed on young patients, including reports of healthy organs being removed.
  • A document released last month found no significant improvement in emotional well-being for children on hormone blockers after 24 months.

Breen has filed a lawsuit against the hospital, alleging medical negligence. The complaint suggests that Olson Kennedy and her team misdiagnosed Breen without adequate mental health evaluations, deviating from standard medical protocols.

The decision to close the center was influenced by a legal and financial review, highlighting pressures from recent administrative actions at the federal level. The hospital cited the need to adapt to these shifting policies.

There are indications that the Trump administration’s recent initiatives aimed at protecting minors will strictly regulate or ban such medical treatments for children.

In a letter to staff, an executive acknowledged, “This is a significant change for our organization,” emphasizing that it reflects the real threats posed by the current legal environment.

Attempts to reach the White House and health officials for comments were reportedly unsuccessful.

The closure has drawn mixed reactions—some advocating for the rights of parents and children to choose medical paths, while others applaud the move as necessary given the associated risks.
