Wade Miley Comments on Tyler Skaggs’ Death Allegations
Wade Miley has spoken out regarding the allegations related to Tyler Skaggs’ passing. Recently released court documents have claimed that Scuggs was involved in drug delivery before he accidentally overdosed in 2019.
“I truly hate what happened to Tyler,” Miley expressed to reporters. “It’s really awful. My thoughts are with his family and friends. But, you know, I’m not going to get into anything that has been said about me or whatever else. I wasn’t a witness to this.”
Miley’s name came up during a deposition by former agent Ryan Hamill, who was discussing an illegal death lawsuit filed against the Angels by Skaggs’ family in 2021. In this testimony, Hamill mentioned, “[Skaggs] It’s cleaner. He said he used it – I think it was Percocet – and he said he got them through Wade Miley.”
The two had been teammates for the Diamondbacks during 2012-2013, and it was noted that Hamill confronted Skaggs about his drug use back in 2013.
This isn’t the first instance Miley’s name has surfaced concerning Skaggs. Former Angels communications director Eric Kay also referred to him during a recorded conversation with his mother.
Kay, currently serving a 22-year prison sentence for distributing fentanyl-laced pills—linked to Skaggs’ death—mentioned that Miley was a source of drugs for the late pitcher.
There are questions surrounding how the Skaggs family’s court documents were made public, as the Angels’ lawyers accused them of intentionally leaking this information in court. Rusty Hardin, representing the Skaggs family, has disputed these claims, insisting that the documents were supposed to be protected under California court rules.
