Israel’s bold actions against Iran reflect a significant development in regional security. As I write this, the Israeli Defense Force is executing a precision operation that has already diminished Iran’s nuclear capabilities and removed key military figures.
These strikes, undoubtedly controversial, seem crucial given the circumstances.
Prime Minister Netanyahu has indicated that Israel is ready for ongoing operations that could last days or possibly weeks. They can’t afford to wait, especially with intelligence suggesting that Iran is making strides toward nuclear weapons. For Israel, the stakes are incredibly high, and they’re taking decisive action.
This isn’t just about Israel; it’s a wider struggle for free nations. President Trump has emphasized the need to convey to Iran that the U.S. is no longer an easy target. The United States and its allies must unite against the Iranian regime and firmly support Israel’s objectives.
Since the 1979 revolution, Iran has been dedicated to Israel’s destruction, rarely shying away from its genocidal goals against the only Jewish state. This has been evident as Iran has surrounded Israel with hostile proxies and conducted terror attacks worldwide. They have funded groups like Hamas, leading to terrible incidents, including those on October 7, 2023, and have launched direct attacks on Israel with drones and missiles.
It’s essential to recognize that Iran’s animosity extends beyond Israel, targeting the U.S. as well. Many Americans have lost their lives due to Iran-backed terrorism. This administration has consistently undermined U.S. interests through its actions. If they gain nuclear arms, it won’t merely threaten Israel; it would spark a regional arms race that could destabilize global security, rendering previous tensions benign by comparison.
In light of all this, it’s pretty clear that the interests of America and Israel align significantly.
Israel is striking the Iranian regime with effective force. Yet, the fight can’t end here. The Islamic Republic is arguably at its weakest in years, thanks to the IDF’s extraordinary efforts since the October 7th strikes. Israel has already neutralized significant Iranian commanders and weakened groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. They have the momentum, and in war, momentum is critical.
It’s worth addressing the critics who claim that Israel ignited this conflict. The reality is, it was Iran that began this. History shows that Iran becomes most dangerous when it perceives weakness rather than strength. Back during my time in the Trump administration, skeptics warned of chaos when moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem or recognizing the Golan Heights. Their dire predictions never came to fruition. On the contrary, President Trump’s firm leadership helped restore deterrence.
After both the recent strikes and the ongoing conflict with Hamas, Israel has consistently exceeded expectations of its capabilities. However, continued support from the U.S. and Gulf states is essential for Israel to keep pressure on Iran and curb its nuclear aspirations for years to come.
This backing can take many forms, and doesn’t always need to be publicized. The Gulf nations, especially, might prefer their support to be discreet — but they are undoubtedly aligned with Israel’s aim to neutralize the Iranian threat.
There are substantial opportunities arising from the internal challenges within the Iranian regime. Israel’s recent successes have been aided by cooperation from dissident elements within Iran. A persistent dissatisfaction and unrest suggest significant trouble for the ruling regime.
Iranians aspire for peace and prosperity rather than prolonged conflict or isolation. The administration in Iran is aware of its unpopularity and has devoted considerable resources to suppress dissent. This opens a pathway for Iranian leaders who can genuinely foster better futures — and the international community should support this vision.
Because of Israel’s actions, the world is arguably a safer place today. If they achieve their objectives, future generations might well recognize the debt owed to them. America’s choice seems straightforward: either watch Iran grow more powerful and perilous or support our democratic allies in ensuring their safety and advancing mutual interests. I certainly know where I stand.
