Former Minnesota Viking Safety Critiques Governor Tim Waltz

Jack Brewer, a former safety for the Minnesota Vikings, has expressed frustration regarding Governor Tim Waltz, whom he describes as “weak” amid recent violent incidents in the state.

Last week, a man armed with a gun forced his way into the homes of two Minnesota senators—state Senator Melissa Hortman and Democratic Senator John Hoffman. Tragically, Hortman and her husband were killed, while Senator Hoffman and his wife sustained injuries but are expected to recover.

The suspect in this shooting, identified as Vance Boerter, 57, is a Democrat. He was previously appointed to the Workforce Development Committee in 2019 by Governor Waltz.

Now a resident of Minnesota since his college days, Brewer is calling out Waltz in reaction to the violent crime. He stated, “On this Father’s Day, Minnesota wants to focus on his father’s recovery—protecting women and families. Tim Waltz exemplifies weak leadership. It’s not something God has done to his father. It’s just pathetic.”

Brewer continued, saying, “It’s terrible. The root cause of all this is evil. When you’re willing to attack and protest even members of your own party for not going far enough, that’s an issue.” He criticized the Democrats for shifting leftward, noting that those not in complete agreement risk facing backlash.

The former player, who organized the “NFL Players for NFL Players” group in 2007, changed his political alignment to Republican, feeling disenchanted with the Democrats. He remarked, “Every time you give in to darkness, it reveals itself, and that’s what we’re seeing now. We need to recognize this for what it is. These people have lost their hearts. It’s heartbreaking to see Minnesota, one of America’s great states, in such turmoil under Gov. Tim Waltz. Minnesota is confused.”

With strong ties to the state, Brewer expressed disappointment in its current state of affairs, recalling, “I played for the Vikings and the Gophers. It wasn’t always like this. People used to be respectful and could engage in conversations.” He lamented, “Minnesota has become the epicenter of chaos in America, but that’s not accurate—it doesn’t reflect the actual people of Minnesota. There are still many good people here. However, the liberal strongholds around Minneapolis and St. Paul are becoming increasingly unsafe.”
