Eric Adams cautions against hindering ICE activities in New York City

Adams Addresses Anti-ICE Protesters in New York

New York Mayor Eric Adams has issued a warning to protesters opposing ICE operations, emphasizing that law enforcement will not be obstructed in the city. This comes as activists seek to counter the Trump administration’s deportation policies.

During an appearance on Fox & Friends, Adams, who is affiliated with the Democratic Independence, expressed his determination to prevent disruptions. “You’re not going to stop federal authorities from doing their jobs. We’ve managed to ensure that,” he stated. He clarified that if protesters were to block traffic, whether for trucks or pedestrians, it simply wouldn’t be tolerated in New York City.

Adams mentioned that the city has handled protests effectively, citing a recent demonstration called “No Kings Day” that took place across the country, which did not devolve into violence. He noted that while some participants might have engaged in disorderly conduct, arrests were uncommon.

Additionally, he underscored ongoing communication with state officials, expressing confidence in the city’s ability to address issues stemming from a growing number of illegal immigrants being housed in hotels throughout the city.

Reflecting on his tenure thus far, Adams defended himself as he gears up for the upcoming mayoral election, asserting that he has addressed significant chaos created by former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who stepped down amidst various scandals in 2021. Cuomo, meanwhile, is reportedly trying to mount a comeback in the political arena.

When questioned about potential implications of exposing actions from Democrats aimed at undermining him, Adams reiterated that his focus remains on advocating for New Yorkers. “It’s about sharing what actually occurred and why we continue our fight. They were not targeting me; they were targeting the people of this city, and I happened to be in the way,” he explained.
