Senate Republicans Investigate Biden’s Cognitive Health
Senate Republicans are intensifying their inquiry into claims regarding former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline. They have announced a list of witnesses for upcoming hearings, scheduled for Wednesday. This marks the first Congressional hearing focusing on this issue.
The witnesses include former officials from President Donald Trump’s administration and legal scholars. Their aim is to provide insight into Biden’s close circle and examine how media coverage might be affecting perceptions of his health.
Details on Witnesses
The list features notable figures like Theodore Waldo, who served as the deputy assistant attorney general in the Department of Justice’s Legal Policy Office. Other witnesses include Sean Spicer, the former White House Press Secretary, and John Harrison, a law scholar with previous experience in the Reagan and Bush administrations.
Interestingly, Democrats on the committee have chosen not to call any witnesses themselves. Fox News Digital attempted to reach out for comments from Senator Dick Durbin.
Leading the effort in this hearing are Senators John Cornyn and Eric Schmitt, focusing on accusations related to media coverage and Biden’s health, which they announced last month.
Cornyn stated that the selected witnesses have strong backgrounds in defending constitutional values and working within the White House environment.
House Republicans Seek Accountability
This upcoming hearing, according to Schmitt, is a critical chance for Americans to get clarity about who truly managed the country as concerns about Biden’s health have been raised. He described the allegations surrounding a cover-up as serious threats to the nation.
Schmitt expressed a commitment to ensuring such situations don’t recur, emphasizing the need for accountability in the process.
In related news, House Republicans are establishing their own select committee to investigate potential cover-ups regarding Biden’s administration. Senator Buddy Carter also introduced legislation aimed at uncovering any concealment of information about the former president’s health.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has been vocal in urging several high-ranking Biden officials to participate in transcribed interviews concerning their roles in addressing the health concerns of the former president. Out of ten witnesses he invited, only four agreed to appear, including key advisors and staff members.
