Schwarzenegger surprises the hosts of 'The View' by saying that immigrants to the U.S. should 'act like a guest'

Arnold Schwarzenegger Advocates for Immigrant Responsibility on “The View”

During a recent appearance on “The View,” former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger shared his thoughts on immigration, emphasizing that immigrants should act like guests in the U.S. His comments sparked significant reactions from the show’s left-leaning hosts.

Schwarzenegger, who emigrated legally from Austria, expressed his admiration for the history of immigration in America but underscored the importance of legality. “You’ve got to do things legal,” he stated. He likened the experience of coming to America to being a guest in someone’s home, stressing the need to be respectful and responsible. “When I go to someone’s house, I do my best to keep things tidy and follow their rules, instead of causing trouble,” he added.

He further asserted that immigrants have a duty to contribute positively to their communities. “You have a responsibility as an immigrant to give back to America,” he said, encouraging involvement in local initiatives like after-school programs or the Special Olympics.

The co-hosts of “The View” seemed surprised by Schwarzenegger’s perspective. Whoopi Goldberg countered, claiming that “90% of the people who come here [illegally] are trying to do the right thing.”

Sunny Hostin chimed in too, suggesting that immigrants are statistically less likely to commit crimes than native-born citizens.

Schwarzenegger concluded by highlighting the need for bipartisan cooperation on immigration reform. “If Democrats and Republicans truly wish to serve the public, they must work together on this issue. Otherwise, it won’t get resolved,” he stated.
