Israeli forces are broadening their operations beyond Iran’s nuclear and military sites, with a focus on dismantling the country’s internal police headquarters, according to Israeli Defense Minister Katz on Wednesday.
Katz announced, “Air Force planes have just destroyed the Iranian regime’s internal security headquarters, which is vital to the oppression conducted by Iranian leaders.” He made this statement in a post on the social platform X.
“As we’ve committed, we’ll keep targeting symbols of power and strike the Ayatollah regime wherever necessary,” he added. “The storm of attacks continues to hit Tehran.”
The latest assault targets Iran’s internal security, which includes its large Basij resistance force.
This follows a surprising Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear and military bases just days earlier, resulting in the deaths of multiple officials and scientists, which in turn prompted a retaliatory response from Tehran.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu claims these strikes are crucial to dismantling the nuclear threat posed by Iran.
Meanwhile, President Trump seems to be considering a potential U.S. military intervention to support Israel. He commented, “I might do that, or maybe not. No one really knows what I’m planning.” He also noted, “Iran has a lot of issues.”
The president remarked on negotiations with the U.S. regarding Iran’s nuclear program, saying, “Why didn’t you negotiate with me before all this chaos?”
Despite the intensifying situation, Trump has hesitated to take direct action against Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, even after indicating that Khamenei would be a “simple target.” He stated that he has no intentions to act against him “at least for now.”
Iran issued a warning to the U.S. regarding potential intervention, suggesting it could escalate into “full war,” insisting that it would “never surrender.”
