Kylian Mbappé discharged from the hospital as his FIFA Club World Cup situation remains uncertain

Kylian Mbappé, the star player for Real Madrid, has been released from the hospital after battling an acute case of gastroenteritis. The club assured his ongoing involvement in the FIFA Club World Cup following his treatment, which began on Thursday.

This unexpected development came to light Thursday morning when reports indicated that the forward was undergoing a series of tests. While the exact location of his treatment wasn’t immediately clear, Real Madrid’s training camp is based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Later that day, the club confirmed that he had been discharged and had returned to their camp. According to the team’s statement, “Mbappé will continue with certain treatments and gradually rejoin the team’s activities.”

Real Madrid plans to train for several days leading up to their Sunday match against Pachuca in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mbappé was absent during the team’s recent 1-1 draw against Al-Hilal. After the match, coach Xabi Alonso mentioned that Mbappé was unable to train for several days. “He’s been hit pretty hard by the virus, so we need to keep monitoring him,” Alonso said, expressing uncertainty about his availability for the next game.

Gastroenteritis symptoms typically involve vomiting and diarrhea, which can be quite debilitating.

In his absence, 21-year-old Gonzalo García stepped up, scoring the sole goal in a recent match, earning commendations from former striker Joselu.

Last season, Mbappé was Real Madrid’s top scorer, netting 43 goals in 56 appearances during his inaugural campaign with the La Liga team after transferring from Paris Saint-Germain.

This year’s Club World Cup features a new format with 32 teams, and Real Madrid is considered one of the leading contenders for the month-long tournament. Currently, they sit in second place in their group, trailing RB Salzburg by two points.
