Livvy Dunne Turns Down Tigers Mascot’s Advances

Livvy Dunne wasn’t interested in the Detroit Tigers mascot during the recent doubleheader against the Pirates. In the second game, the team’s mascot, a familiar figure since ’95, held up a sign behind home plate that read “Sup Livvy Dunne” while ace pitcher Paul Skens was on the mound.

Dunne, who has been in a relationship with Skens since last summer, quickly took to social media to humorously decline the mascot’s advances, stating, “Sorry… not my type of Tiger,” while tagging Detroit in her post.

It’s worth noting that Dunne’s reference to “Tiger” might actually relate to the LSU Tigers, the university she and Skens attended together.

Despite the mascot’s playful attempt, 23-year-old Skens remained unfazed and had a solid performance during the game, finishing with two runs and nine strikeouts across six innings, although the Tigers ended up losing 8-4 in 10 innings.

Since being selected first overall in the 2023 MLB draft and dating a prominent social media star, Skens seems to have adjusted well to the spotlight this season.

In a light-hearted reflection, Skens mentioned, “I’m sure I’ll get some ribbing in the locker room, which I’m really not looking forward to.” He also reminisced about a recent GQ photoshoot with Dunne, saying he didn’t even know about the magazine until the opportunity arose, but he was glad he participated.

Having won the 2024 National League Rookie of the Year award, Skens was also the youngest starting pitcher at the beginning of this season—a milestone for him. He shared, “When the manager called me in to say I was starting, my reaction was pretty much the same. That’s how I got here.”

Meanwhile, Dunne is wrapping up her final year with the LSU gymnastics team.
