Millions of Americans are set to receive their social security retirement benefits check next week.
On Wednesday, June 25th, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will be sending out the payment schedule for this month’s retirement benefits.
The SSA is also addressing issues regarding Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Survivor Benefits on the same day.
Who will get the Social Security check on Wednesday, June 25th?
Out of about 70 million recipients of retirement, SSDI, or survivor benefits in the U.S., most receive payments on one of three Wednesdays each month.
The specific Wednesday for each recipient is determined by their birth date.
On June 25th, checks will be distributed to those whose birthdays fall between the 21st and the 31st of the month.
This will be the last Wednesday payment for SSA in June, with earlier distributions occurring on the 11th and the 18th.
Wednesday Payment Schedule – June 2025:
- Wednesday, June 11th: Recipients born on the 1st to 10th
- Wednesday, June 18th: Recipients born on the 11th to 20th
- Wednesday, June 25th: Recipients born on the 21st to 31st
Who is paid outside of the three Wednesdays schedule?
If you began claiming retirement, SSDI, or survivor benefits before May 1997, you are typically paid on the third of each month, regardless of your birth date.
Also, recipients of Supplementary Security Income (SSI)—which assists low-income individuals over 65 or those with disabilities—usually receive their payments on the first of each month.
If you receive both SSI and SSA retirement, SSDI, or Survivor benefits, SSI is generally paid first, followed by the latter on the third.
However, since June started on a Sunday, this month’s SSI check was delivered early, specifically on Friday, May 30th.
Recipients outside of Wednesday: Payment in June 2025
- Friday, May 30: SSI Recipient
- Tuesday, June 3: Social Security Beneficiaries since May 1997
For those receiving both: SSI was paid on May 30th, and Social Security payments were made on June 3rd.

Retired workers, who make up the bulk of U.S. Social Security beneficiaries, earn an average monthly benefit of about $2,000.
To be more specific, the average retirement check currently stands at $2,002.39, according to the latest SSA figures.
The maximum monthly retirement check reaches up to $5,108.
How much do other SSA beneficiaries earn per month?
Individuals with disabilities receive an average of $1,581.97 monthly, while those receiving survivor benefits average $1,566.66. SSI beneficiaries get around $718.30 a month.
