JD Vance Reveals His Advice to Trump Regarding Iran

Vance Discusses Trump’s Strategy on Iran

Vice President JD Vance appeared on Fox News recently, sharing insights into the guidance he provided to President Donald Trump concerning Iran and its nuclear ambitions.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt mentioned that a decision on Trump’s involvement in the conflict between Israel and Iran is expected within two weeks. During an interview on “Special Report with Bret Baier,” Vance expressed confidence in Trump, noting the president’s ability to recognize when diplomatic avenues have been exhausted.

“My advice to him is, ‘Sir, trust your instincts.’ His political intuition is unmatched among any president I’ve seen,” Vance stated. “I believe he knows when diplomacy has reached its limit and will ultimately realize he needs to engage the US military to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear program.”

Regarding the timeline for Trump’s decision-making, Vance suggested that the president is unlikely to disclose a detailed plan but is certainly paying close attention to the evolving situation.

“As the president mentioned, he won’t share precise details about what or when he will act. He is working to navigate the diplomatic landscape while ensuring the safety of Americans,” Vance added.

When discussing the timeframe for diplomacy versus military action, Vance emphasized that the final call lies with the president, yet he acknowledged that time may be running short. (Related: Mark Halperin remarks on Trump’s leverage vis-à-vis Iran)

“The president has indicated he will pursue diplomatic options until he feels there are no further opportunities. However, I doubt additional discussions will yield significant results. Again, the president holds the ultimate decision. We seem to be running out of time, though he expressed a desire to allow diplomacy a bit more opportunity,” Vance noted.

On Monday, Trump called for an immediate evacuation of Tehran, asserting that Iran “cannot have nuclear weapons.” This statement came in the aftermath of Israel’s preemptive strike targeting various Iranian military installations, resulting in casualties among high-ranking commanders.

As Israel ramps up its efforts, reports indicate that the US is weighing its own options regarding Iranian nuclear sites. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted that intervention against the Ayatollah could be on the agenda.

A successful strike on facilities like Fordow would likely require specialized munitions to breach their defenses. Trump had previously given Iran a 60-day deadline to negotiate a halt to its nuclear program, which ended right before Israel launched its offensive.
