A driver has been arrested in connection with the death of Sara Burack, a reality star and well-known real estate agent. The 32-year-old Amanda Kempton from Virginia was taken into custody on Friday, facing charges for fleeing the scene of a car accident that resulted in a fatality, according to police reports from Southampton town.
This is a Class D felony in New York, which carries a maximum prison sentence of four years.
Kempton was set to be arrested Saturday, police mentioned. Her arrest followed a manhunt for the driver who struck Burack on June 19. However, details regarding the vehicle involved in the incident have yet to be released.
Burack, recognized for her appearances on Netflix’s “Million Dollar Beach House” and HBO Max’s “Sells the Hamptons“, was hit along Montauk Highway, near Villa Paul Restaurant. After the incident, she was found unconscious and taken to Stony Brook University Hospital.
A family friend, working as a real estate agent, shared that she was with Burack’s mother and sister in the hospital before Burack’s passing. It was reported that she suffered cardiac arrest at the site, received resuscitation, and was placed on life support, only to later succumb to severe brain damage from the accident.
“She was a wonderful person… so dedicated to her work,” the friend told about Burack. They had worked together at Nestseekers International before her untimely death.
A source revealed that when Burack wasn’t involved in real estate, she often participated in charity events and fundraising efforts in New York City. “Many people loved her; she was someone you could genuinely count on,” the source reflected.
Interestingly, Burack had previously expressed her love for real estate, saying it felt natural to transition from her family’s construction business into a real estate career, as she spent many summers managing properties in the Hamptons.
