Tyrese Halliburton Injured During Game 7
During a tense Game 7 of the NBA Finals, Tyrese Halliburton, the star player for the Pacers, suffered a right foot injury that required immediate attention. His father, John Halliburton, was seen looking visibly distressed as they both watched the Pacers attempt to secure a victory against the Thunder on Sunday night.
As the game unfolded, ESPN caught John Halliburton’s reaction, which reflected the worry felt by many fans. Midway through the second quarter, he confirmed to Lisa Salters from ESPN that Tyrese had indeed injured his Achilles.
“Mr. Halliburton said it was an Achilles injury and noted that Tyrese was handling the situation the best he could,” Salters reported during the broadcast. “The family is all here—his mom, dad, and brother. He seems fine and is trying to support his teammates from the locker room.”
The injury occurred in the first quarter when Tyrese was dribbling the ball and suddenly felt pain. It was clear something was wrong as he slapped the court, prompting the training staff to rush to his aid.
He required help to exit to the locker room and was reportedly unable to put any weight on his right leg. Initially, the team classified the injury as concerning his lower right leg, and it was clear he wouldn’t be returning to play before John could see more updates on the situation.
Tyrese had previously been dealing with a calf issue from Game 5 but was declared ready to play in both Games 6 and 7. He had managed to score nine points in just seven minutes before his injury, demonstrating his skills with a solid shooting performance.
This season, John Halliburton had already gained attention for an earlier incident involving Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo during the first round of the playoffs, but this moment brought an entirely different kind of concern.
