Israel announced that it was targeting Iranian government sites, including President Trump’s declared “regime targets,” like the notorious Evin Prison. Maybe this has something to do with the government’s recent changes in Tehran.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated in a social media update that Israeli forces were “shocked” by the unprecedented targets being hit—military forces and oppressive government groups in the heart of Tehran, according to an English translation of his message.
He mentioned that the targets included the Basij headquarters, a paramilitary group within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC); Evin Prison, known for holding political prisoners; and even the “destroying Israel” clock in Palestine Square.
Katz went on to clarify that this operation also aimed at “additional administrative goals,” which included the internal security headquarters and the ideological base for revolutionary security divisions.
Throughout Monday morning, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) reported sirens being activated across the country as Iran continued its missile launches aimed at Israel.
“For every attack on the Israeli home front, Iranian dictators will face consequences, and our military strikes will remain strong. We’ll keep acting to protect our territory and defeat the enemy until all our objectives are met,” Katz emphasized in a statement.
This has been described by Trump as an “epic military success” following U.S. military strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities this past Saturday evening.
The strikes reportedly targeted nuclear sites at Natanz, Esfahan, and Fordow in the mountains, with six “bunker buster” bombs deployed at Fordow. Over 20 Tomahawk missiles were launched at the two other locations.
Trump cautioned against potential retaliation from Iran and hinted at additional strikes if the country doesn’t make genuine moves toward peace.
While administration officials have insisted that regime change is not the aim of the White House, Trump raised this possibility on Sunday night, questioning what happens if Iran refuses to negotiate in good faith.
“It’s probably not politically correct to mention ‘regime change,’ but why not consider it if the current Iranian regime can’t make Iran great again?? Miga!!!” Trump stated in a post.
