Rep. Crockett Criticizes Trump Over Military Actions
Representative Jasmine Crockett from Texas took to Instagram Live over the weekend to express her discontent with President Donald Trump’s recent military actions against Iran. In an interesting turn of events, she also offered praise for her colleague, Rep. Thomas Massey, who has introduced a bipartisan resolution aimed at limiting the president’s military authority.
Crockett didn’t hold back, stating that many people might not fully grasp how Trump’s unilateral decisions could be interpreted as a declaration of war. She used a term—”MoFo”—to express her disdain for how the current administration has bypassed congressional oversight in military matters.
As a progressive voice, Crockett is among those accusing Trump of disregarding Congress while escalating tensions with Tehran. In response, Trump’s team insists that they are operating within the framework of the War Powers Act.
“We live at a time when the people in the White House seem indifferent to rules and laws,” she remarked, adding that without law and order, a civilized society is unlikely to flourish. She took aim at Trump’s immigration policies, saying they have only exacerbated issues surrounding his military strike against Iran.
Crockett underscored that those undocumented individuals are not the source of harm to society; instead, she pointed fingers squarely at Trump and his administration.
She urged her supporters to challenge Trump supporters directly, insisting on the need for action. In her roughly 20-minute video, she emphasized the importance of reaching out to Congressional representatives, especially those in Republican districts.
“It’s crucial to align with a few Republicans who are willing to act. Thomas Massey is one I can count on,” she noted, suggesting a sense of skepticism about the rest of the party.
The complexities of foreign entanglements have long been a source of tension, particularly for lawmakers wary of military involvement. Last year, emergency foreign aid was passed with bipartisan support, yet there were dissenting voices from both progressive and conservative circles wary of U.S. military engagements abroad.
Trump’s recent strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities received backing from many Republican leaders and some pro-Israel Democrats, though concerns were voiced by a minority within the conservative ranks. Representative Warren Davidson from Ohio commended the strikes for their precision but emphasized the need for Congress to reclaim its war powers.
While acknowledging Trump’s legal basis for these actions, Davidson pointed out that the administration’s approach has strayed from constitutional norms.
Alongside Massey, Democratic Representative Ro Khanna is pushing to limit Trump’s military powers regarding Iran. Massey expressed optimism about the prospects of securing bipartisan support for measures intended to rein in unilateral military actions by the president.
He remarked, “I believe I can get this to pass because of the tight majority. It seems like Democrats rediscover their anti-war principles when there’s a Republican in office.” Fox News Digital has reached out for comments regarding the recent Crockett video.
