PAC supporting Trump created to challenge Massie in Kentucky

Trump’s Super PAC Aims to Remove Rep. Massey

A new super PAC, named MagaKY, has been established with the intent to unseat Rep. Thomas Massey, a Republican from Kentucky. This movement has ignited frustration from Trump, primarily due to Massey’s opposition to significant actions taken by the administration.

Chris Lacivita, a co-campaign manager for Trump, stated that the PAC’s goal is to inform Massey’s constituents of his alleged preference for progressive policies, which he claims align more with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez than with Trump.

Axios first reported on this newly formed PAC, which is led by Lacivita and pollster Tony Fabrizio. According to them, plans for this initiative were already in motion before Massey’s recent comments, which upset Trump.

Massey responded to Trump’s declaration regarding military actions against Iranian nuclear sites, calling out what he termed a violation of constitutional protocols. He mentioned that such military actions should necessitate a vote in Congress.

In response, Trump expressed disdain for Massey, labeling him a “pathetic loser” and a plague upon the party.

The conflict between Trump and Massey isn’t new; back in March, Trump suggested that he would advocate for removing lawmakers who don’t support his policies. Massey was among those Republicans who voted against Trump’s significant funding legislation last month, further intensifying their rivalry.

Reports suggest that Massey might face a primary challenger in the next election, as Trump has openly criticized his positions since Massey entered Congress in 2012. Despite this turmoil, Massey has confirmed his intention to run for reelection amidst the ongoing conflict with Trump.

In 2020, during the pandemic, Massey opposed a substantial aid package, a move that drew ire from Trump. Nevertheless, Massey won his recent reelection easily, overcoming major challengers with little opposition.
