Trump's Most Vocal Critics Unexpectedly Support Him on Iran Bombs

Current and former Republicans who were critical of many of President Donald Trump’s actions have expressed their support for his recent decision to attack three Iranian nuclear facilities.

Conservative figures, including ex-Trump officials and former governors, are now voicing their approval of this military action. John Bolton, who served as Trump’s national security adviser, commended the decision in a tweet on Sunday morning, stating it was the right move for America, especially concerning Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He hinted at some administration changes as well.

President Trump did the right thing for America when he launched Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Now, the government has changed.

Interestingly, Bolton had previously criticized Trump heavily, even suggesting he was unfit for the presidency in 2020. This decision, however, has led him to affirm that Trump made the correct choice regarding Iran.

Another vocal critic of Trump, Bill Kristol, also praised the bombing, referencing a piece in The Atlantic. He emphasized that we’re living in a perilous world and highlighted Trump’s decision as a necessary action.

We live in a dangerous world, and we’re going to get more. In fact, in other ways that have been exacerbated by the president’s policies, Trump has made this right…

Former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger, who previously called for Trump to resign via the 25th Amendment in 2021, expressed his support for the attacks as well. He remarked that attacking nuclear facilities was the right approach and hinted at the importance of negotiating a resolution with Iran moving forward.

In my opinion, the US attack on nuclear facilities is the right call. We’ll see what the outcome is, but now the key is to negotiate to suppress the surface…

Kinzinger has been leaning more towards Democrats recently, while other Democrats, like Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut, have been critical of the response to the bombing.

Murphy voiced concerns, suggesting that Democrats could be overreacting to this situation similar to their reactions during the Soleimani strikes.

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who opposed Trump in both the 2016 and 2024 primaries, also hailed the strike. He acknowledged it as a significant and challenging decision for Trump, admitting that the president could not accept Iran possessing nuclear weapons.

Trump deserves a huge amount of credit for making the decision to attack Iran’s nuclear sites. The president saw an opportunity that he may never have again.
